ARNOLD MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS NAMED AS FINALISTS IN THE DO THE WRITE THING CHALLENGE PROGRAM

Arnold Middle School students Courtney Treadwell and Daniel Villalobos have been named as finalists in the Houston/Harris County Do the Write Thing Challenge Program.

Treadwell, an eighth-grade student, and Villalobos, a seventh-grade student, will be honored at the Recognition Ceremony and Dinner May 9 at 6 p.m. in the Houston Texans Practice Bubble near Reliant Stadium.

“I’m so proud of these students. They are both good students, leaders on campus and wonderful young people to be around,” said Susan Higgins, principal at Arnold.   “Courtney has attended the Superintendent’s Student Leadership Conference (SSLC) and continues to set a good example for her peers.”

The Do the Write Thing Challenge is a writing competition for seventh and eighth grade students designed to prevent violence and to promote safety in schools and the community. The Challenge is an initiative of the National Campaign to Stop Violence, a non-profit organization composed of business, community and governmental leaders who have joined forces to reduce youth violence across the United States.

The program received 10,765 entries from across the nation in the contest.
