JVTV WINS AT INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE PRESS CONFERENCE

Jersey Village High School’s television students recently competed in the Interscholastic League Press Conference (ILPC) and received first, second, and third place awards in broadcasting.

“The experience that the JVTV students gain from these types of contests is invaluable.   They are actually being judged by experts other than their teacher,” said Cindy Stoker, fine arts department chair and video production teacher. “When they place in contests, it validates all of the hard work that the JVTV students have put forth.”

Seniors Sebastian Garcia and Bradley Schuster, Erica Rodriguez, and Kellie Jackson won first place in the Newscast Graphics category and third place in the News Broadcast category.

Junior Greg Molick placed second with his story on “Child Predators” and senior Travis White placed third with his story on “Gas Prices” in the General News Storycategory.

An Honorable Mention was given to senior Joe Harper in the Feature Story category for his “Godspell” story.

In the Anchor Presentation category, seniors Travis White and Jared Triska received the second place award.

Jordan Bontke placed third in the Public Service Announcement category with his “Bicycle Helmets” PSA.

“I am very proud of the JVTV students’ accomplishments at the ILPC contest,” Stoker said.   “The exciting part about these awards was the fact that we were not only judged on our stories, we were also judged on our graphics, news anchors, and our overall newscast.”
