Trustees Recognize Government, Economics Students
At the April 13 CFISD Board meeting, 14 high school government and economics students were recognized by the trustees for being chosen to participate in the Board Shadowing Project. Each student sat with his or her designated Board member or administrator throughout the course of the meeting to observe the democratic process in action.
The following students participated in the Board shadowing project:
- Gabriel Ramirez and Leslie Chastain of Cy-Fair High School
- Allen Viverette and Christina Ma of Cypress Creek High School
- Jansen Angima and Jessica Huettel of Cypress Falls High School
- Denise Hernandez and Khuyen Tran of Cypress Ridge High School
- Yvette Deming and Gina Bertoli of Cypress Springs High School
- Adrianne Fore and Manal Khan of Jersey Village High School
- Addison Reed and Caroline Goloby of Langham Creek High School
“This experience has helped me understand the complex steps our Board takes to fund and instill the many aspects and opportunities for our schools. I never realized how much money actually goes into our schools. This opportunity to shadow a Board member has helped me better understand the steps our Board members take,” said Denise Hernandez of Cypress Ridge.
