SPRAGUE AWARDED CEFPI FACILITY PLANNER OF THE YEAR
Roy Sprague, senior director for facilities planning and construction, was recognized by the trustees at the May 4 Board meeting for receiving the Southern Region of the Council for Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI) Planner of the Year Award, the highest honor given by the council. Recipients of the award exemplify the council’s mission to “improve the places where children learn” through their work, community involvement and personal goals. As Planner of the Year, Sprague will compete in 2007 for the International Planner of the Year Award. Sprague is a registered architect who, since joining CFISD in 1997 as senior director for facilities planning and construction, has been responsible for leading the department in planning and construction of bond projects totaling approximately $1.2 billion. According to CEFPI officials, under Sprague’s leadership the district’s facilities planning and construction department has earned recognition as the “best” in the state. As a member of CEFPI, Sprague has held the following offices: chapter president, regional president, and representative to the International Board. He was recently elected by the International membership, which includes seven regions in the US, Canada, Australia and Asia, as their incoming president. |
