PRO-BIKE CHAMP TO SPEAK AT CYPRESS RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL AUTOMOTIVE AWARDS BANQUET

 

Steve Johnson, the defending US National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Pro-Bike Champion, will be the guest speaker at the fourth annual Automotive Awards Banquet at Cypress Ridge High School on May 17 at 7 p.m.

“We are excited—it isn’t every day that a school has a national champion come and speak,” said Joel Mooneyham, automotive instructor for Cypress Ridge.

Johnson, president of Two-Wheel Professional Racers Organization, will address motorsports and education, with education being the main focus.

The purpose of the event is to honor students first, then business members and administrators. Students will receive awards in perfect attendance; National Automotive Technician Education Foundation (NATEF) Certificate of Completion; Auto Tech students of each six weeks; Safety and Pollution Training (SP/2) safety certificates; Most Improved students; Auto tech students of the year; and Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) interns/mentors certificates.

The following business members will be recognized for their contribution to the automotive department: Beck & Masten GMC; Parkway Chevrolet; Joe Myers Toyota; Winkler’s Garage; Scott’s Auto Repair; HAF, Inc.; Snap-On Tools; Delegard Tools; San Jacinto College; Wyoming  Techincal College; Don Kessler, Cy-Fair High School automotive instructor; Dirk Goldsmith and Robert Singletary, CFISD employees for Career and Technology Program Services.
