Lifeskills teacher Hillary Towers from Bang Elementary was nominated by Regina McDougle, a CFISD substitute, for having “the unique ability to ‘connect’ with her students—she believes in them, encourages them, and they soar.” |

Lifeskills teacher Michelle Terrell from Bang Elementary was also nominated by Regina McDougle. “Michelle is ‘hands on’ whether it is on the floor, with manipulatives, or sitting at a table. She always focuses on the positive and communicates daily with the parents,” McDougle said. |

Jude Sheikh from Lee Elementary was nominated by teacher Cynthia Taylor for “encouraging the community to get involved with the students and helping the families during the hurricanes. Her students are her first priority and she is always ready, willing and able to help anyone, at any time.” |

Laura Arevalo from Kahla Middle School was nominated anonymously for having “a fantastic relationship with her students. She is always fair and consistent, and listens and responds to their questions and concerns.” |

Ashlee Ivy from Jowell Elementary was nominated by the administrative team for bringing “so much enthusiasm and experience to PPCD. She has been instrumental in planning ways for the PPCD students to have positive interactions and inclusion with the Pre-K classes on an ongoing basis. The parents credit their children’s progress to Ashlee’s phenomenal approach in the classroom.” |

Kelly Strauss from Sheridan Elementary was nominated by parent Jennifer Austin for “ being such an inspiration to many parents and students. She is loving, kind, and heart warming and all students progress in such a short time in her class.” |

Vicki Wolff from Post Elementary was nominated by parents Paul and Aline Houston for “communicating with parents daily and facilitating communication between verbal and non-verbal students—and constantly learning and teaching new ways to communicate effectively.” |

Melissa Tysdal from Post Elementary was nominated by parents Kathy and Austin Woodard for teaching “students to read by building their self-esteem and guiding them with love and patience. Communication and partnership with the family is constant. Her approach is caring, very compassionate and supportive.” |

Jacqueline Delgado from Holmsley Elementary was nominated by co-worker Debbie Reina for being “an amazing young woman who pours her heart into each child. She has a great sense of humor and can always see the best in her students.” |
