District observes Educational Diagnosticians’ Week
March 5, 2007 —This week, March 5-9, has been declared Educational Diagnosticians’ Week by Governor Rick Perry, through a proclamation he signed on Dec. 5, 2006.
Educational diagnosticians in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and throughout the state are being recognized for their hard work and dedication to education.
“By using comprehensive academic assessments and psychological and aptitude tests, educational diagnosticians are able to help advise on teaching approaches and materials necessary to best ensure that young Texans are provided the education and skills fundamental to lifelong excellence,” Perry said.
CFISD Superintendent Dr. David Anthony highlighted this proclamation during the Superintendent’s Briefing portion of the Board of Trustees committee-of-the-whole meeting on March 1.
“I would like to add my appreciation to the district’s educational diagnosticians who work diligently to evaluate and create personalized learning programs addressing the unique educational needs of students in the Special Education program,” Anthony said.
Jan Phillips, manager of the Special Education department, said there are 84 positions for educational diagnosticians within CFISD, not including several part-time employees.
“They work hard for the district, they work hard for parents and they work hard for students to ensure that they’re receiving the special education services that they need,” Phillips said. “They’re a group that are very supportive of each other and the students that they serve.”
According to Phillips, certificates of appreciation were sent out this week to all the district’s educational diagnosticians.
