June 18, 2007—Truitt Middle School reading department chair Leslie Thomas was recently selected as the 2007 Teacher of the Year for Wal-Mart store No. 1040 at FM 529 and State Hwy. 6. The award recipient was selected based on student recommendations to Wal-Mart.

In recognition of her award, Wal-Mart co-manager Kit Semple presented Thomas with a certificate and donated a $1,000 check to Truitt Middle School on behalf of Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club.
