Spring sports athletes named  All-Greater Houston

June 19, 2007—Twelve CFISD baseball, softball, track and field and tennis athletes were named to the Houston Chronicle All-Greater Houston (AGH) team, announced on Sunday.

In baseball, Langham Creek senior pitcher Matt Rein (13-0, 1.39 ERA, 96 Ks) and Cy-Fair junior pitcher Tommy Collier (11-1, 0.45 ERA, 88 Ks) were selected for the First Team.

LCHS senior pitcher Corey Maines was named to the Second Team, as were Cy-Fair junior outfielder Robbie Grossman and Cypress Falls senior utility player Daniel Nottebart. LCHS senior infielder Jeff Onstott was named to the Third Team.

In softball, Langham Creek junior infielder Nikki Chandler and Cy-Fair senior outfielder Catee Brown were both named to the Second Team. Cypress Falls senior outfielder Kelly Kreitman was picked for the Third Team.

In track and field, Jersey Village junior Michael Barbas was named the Boys Top Performer in throws after medaling in both the shot put (57-3 3/4) and discus (173-3) at the state meet. Cypress Creek senior Allison Pye was named the Girls Top Performer in distance following two gold medals in the 1,600 and 3,200 events, respectively.

In tennis, Cypress Woods freshman Kourtney Howell was one of three girls singles players chosen for the AGH team.
