June 19, 2007—A possible change in the Texas Education Agency (TEA) testing calendar will likely make Monday, April 28, 2008—previously a professional day and student holiday—a regular school day.
Due to the state mandate that pushes the first day of school back a week to Aug. 27, along with the requirements of SB 1031, testing dates for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) may also run a week later. The TEA is expected to reserve April 28 as a TAKS testing day, negating the scheduled student holiday.
The TEA has no definitive timetable for reaching a decision. Please refer to the district website for updates.
