October 17, 2007 —The Cy-Fair Special Olympics softball team placed fourth in the Area 4 Greater Houston/Golden Triangle tournament held Saturday, Oct. 13 at Collins Park. The tournament concluded the team’s season.

In the Individual Skills competition, Julian Crawford from Aragon Middle School won a gold medal and Derek Hanham from Campbell Middle School won a bronze medal.

The following team members all contributed to Cy-Fair’s success:

Cypress Falls High School

• Joshua (Ryan) Bradford , shortstop; Robert Dunn, first base/relief pitcher; and Luis (Bobby) Verdiguel, left field

Cypress Creek High School

• Jessica Cranford , catcher; Tyler Cravens, third base; and Brynn Upchurch, right field

Cypress Ridge High School

• Christopher Santana , left center field; and William (Billy) Schell, left center field

Cy-Fair High School

• Christian Cuevas , right center field

Langham Creek High School

• Alex Sizemore , pitcher

Labay Middle School

• Mattie Sisk , second base

Holmsley Elementary School

• Jasmine Michael Guillory , right center field

Matzke Elementary School

• Caitlin Ripley , right field

The team is coached by head coach Susan Barcelona and assistant coach Melanie Grubbs.
