October 23, 2007 —The Cypress Creek High School boys and girls water polo teams each placed third at the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (TISCA) state tournament in Austin last weekend.
The Cypress Creek girls first defeated Alamo Heights 8-4 on Friday morning, before falling to Clear Lake 7-5 on Friday night. The girls then beat Clear Brook 5-4 and beat Atascocita 7-3 on Saturday to clinch third place.
Seniors Jessica Bean and Abby Edwards made the TISCA Girls All-State First Team, while senior Asaundra Harris was named honorable mention.
The Cypress Creek boys began by defeating O’Connor 13-1 on Friday afternoon, then lost to Clear Lake 7-5 on Friday night. The boys defeated St. Mark’s 8-2 and knocked off Strake Jesuit 8-5 to capture third place.
Senior Cameron Hudson made the Boys All-State First Team, while junior Jackson Gould and senior Alex Harris made the Second Team.
The boys finished the season with a record of 28-10, while the girls ended with a 30-8 record.
