November 6, 2007 — Cy-Fair High School senior girls basketball player Nneka Ogwumike was named the All-Greater Houston Preseason Player of the Year by the Houston Chronicle this week.

Ogwumike, a 6-foot-2 forward, averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds while leading the Lady Bobcats to a 39-1 record and a state finals appearance.

Her teammates, senior guard Mansa El and sophomore post Chiney Ogwumike, were named to the All-Greater Houston Second Team.

Also representing CFISD as an All-Greater Houston selection is Langham Creek High School senior forward Mercedes Johnson.
