November 7, 2007 — The Cy-Fair High School volleyball team swept past defending regional champion Memorial in the Class 5A Region III quarterfinals at the Merrell Center on Tuesday, 25-4, 25-14, 25-21.

Cy-Fair improves to 36-2 on the season, and will face Dulles in the Region III semifinals Friday night at 6 p.m. at the Campbell Center ( 1865 Aldine Bender Road) .

The winner of that match will face the winner of Cinco Ranch vs. Clear Lake at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Campbell Center.

“This team has played the entire season with so much passion,” said Cy-Fair head coach Donna Benotti. “The team has many great athletes, but more importantly, they play as one. We look forward to this regional tournament. Whatever the outcome, I am pleased to have had the opportunity to coach such a gifted, classy group of young ladies.”

The Cypress Woods High School volleyball team finished its inaugural season as regional quarterfinalists after falling to Cinco Ranch on Tuesday, 27-25, 25-28, 25-18.

“ It has been so much fun to watch these girls mature,” said Cypress Woods head coach Ashley Ahlfinger. “They have grown this year both as individual players and as a team. I am so proud of them.”
