November 20, 2007 — Cy-Fair High School senior girls basketball player Nneka Ogwumike signed a national letter of intent on Monday to play for Stanford University next season.

Ogwumike, a 6-foot-2 post player, has averaged approximately 20 points and 10 rebounds a game for Cy-Fair over the last two seasons and is considered one of the country’s top 10 recruits by Scout.com.

“I am so excited about finally making my decision public. The minute I walked onto the Stanford campus, I knew immediately this was the place for me,” Ogwumike said. “I love Stanford’s focus on academics first, then athletics. I can see myself there for the next four years. I have had the best high school experience in Cy-Fair and am very confident I have been well-prepared for the next level.”
