December 13, 2007 — Twenty-one CFISD student athletes were selected to the Class 5A Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic All-State Football Team for 2007-2008.

The Elite, First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention players were selected by a point system that awards points for GPA, class rank and SAT or ACT score. The student athletes are then placed on teams according to the number of points they have earned.

The following district football players were named to the team:

First Team

• Andrew Hebarty and Emeric Naseman, Cy-Fair High School; Mitch Johnson and Kyle Kamerbeek, Cypress Creek High School; Ryan Moss, Cypress Falls High School; William Gammerdinger and Jacob Skinner, Cypress Springs High School; and Kenny McCown III, Langham Creek High School.

Second Team

• Peter Hand and Brian Townsend, Cy-Fair High School; Traryss Chitolia and Lukas Thompson, Cypress Creek High School; and Dionel Alves, Mathew Beltran, Blake Billings, Dane Jeske and David Tamez, Cypress Falls High School.

Honorable Mention

• Eric Bassett , Bryce Leasure and Steven Truong, Cypress Falls High School; and Justin Mathis, Cypress Springs High School.
