January 22, 2008 — Rhonda Frewin, the current principal at Millsap Elementary School, was named the new principal for Hemmenway Elementary School effective March 17. Hemmenway Elementary School (No. 48) will open in August 2008.

Frewin’s new assignment was announced during Tuesday’s regularly scheduled Board meeting.

Frewin has spent 31 years with CFISD. She was a paraprofessional and teacher at Post Elementary School from 1976-1987, and then was a teacher at Jowell Elementary School from 1987-1991. She returned to Post as an assistant principal from 1991-2000 before taking over as Millsap principal in 2000.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and her Masters of Education from Houston Baptist University. She holds certifications in Kindergarten from University of Houston and Educational Administration from HBU.

“It is an honor and a privilege for me to have the opportunity to open Hemmenway Elementary,” Frewin said. “I look forward to serving the students, staff and community and continuing the tradition of excellence that our district is known for.”
