February 20, 2008 — Louanne Shaffer, the current instructional specialist at Reed Elementary School, was named the new principal at Hancock Elementary School for the 2008-2009 school year. Shaffer replaces Kathy Dickson, who will open M. Robinson Elementary School in the fall.
Shaffer has worked in education since 1991. In the last seven years she has served as an elementary school principal at both Plano ISD and Magnolia ISD, as well as a director for marketing and operations at the Region 4 Education Service Center. She began as the instructional specialist at Reed in 2007.
Shaffer holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Texas Woman’s University, and is certified in elementary education (1-8), English (1-8), gifted and talented (1-8), ESL (1-8) and mid-management (pre-K-12).
Shaffer said she was honored to assume her first principal role in CFISD.
“I am very excited to join the Hancock family and am looking forward to working with the students, staff and parents,” she said. “Meeting the staff gave me a sense of a school with a shared vision and commitment to a quality education for all students.”
