February 27, 2008 —District volleyball players and one coach were honored with several recognitions following the 2007 season.

Cy-Fair High School head coach Donna Benotti was named the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) 4A-5A Coach of the Year after leading the Bobcats to a 37-3 record and the state semifinals. Cy-Fair finished in a tie for third place in the final TGCA Volleyball Poll.

Cy-Fair seniors Lacy Hayes and Nneka Ogwumike and Cypress Falls High School senior Kristin Graser were named to the TGCA All-State Team. Ogwumike was also named to the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) 5A All-State First Team.

Hayes and Cypress Springs High School senior Briana Tolbert were both selected to the East team for the TGCA Volleyball All-Star Game, to be played on July 9 at Grand Prairie High School.

Several other volleyball players were named to the TGCA 5A Academic All-State Team: Jaclyn Adams, Allicia Garza, Cambrey Oehler, Ogwumike, Brooke Pahmiyer and Nichole Pickford, Cy-Fair; Melesa Cook, Alex Froebel, Melissa Little, Kaitlyn Love, Brandi Poulsen, Stephanie Selvius and Shelby Yanus, Cypress Creek High School; and Aubrey Bratcher, Pilar Guerrero, Lauren Pazitney and Jackie Williamson, Cypress Falls.
