March 11, 2008 —District 17-5A boys basketball coaches selected the All-District Boys Basketball Team on Friday. Twenty CFISD student-athletes were honored with superlatives, First Team, Second Team or Honorable Mention status.
Cypress Springs High School senior Phillip McDonald highlighted the superlatives by being named Most Valuable Player. Cypress Woods High School junior Reynaldo Noel was named Newcomer of the Year. Both Cypress Ridge High School senior Brandon Smith and Cypress Springs senior Jon Smith were named Co-Defensive Player of the Year, along with Strake Jesuit junior Tim Frazier. Cypress Springs head coach John Harmatuk was named Coach of the Year.
