
March 24, 2008 — Cypress Falls High School Air Force JROTC cadets won fifth place in the Flight Regulation, Unarmed division at the inaugural Air Force National JROTC Western Drill Championships, held last week at Texas A&M University.
The invitational event was for all Air Force JROTC schools west of the Mississippi River, and was sponsored by the Air Force Association in cooperation with Headquarters U.S. Air Force JROTC and the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.
Seventeen schools from Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma represented 29 performing teams at the competition.
“The event was very competitive and talent-laden. We competed with some of the powerhouse schools across the country,” said Maj. Timothy Nichols, Cypress Falls AFJROTC adviser. “Our cadets practiced hard and we were very pleased to place in this prestigious competition.”
