April 8, 2008 — Three teams from Cypress-Fairbanks ISD won first-, second- or third-place honors at the Texas Destination ImagiNation (DI) State Competition, held April 4-5 at Round Rock ISD, and will compete in the DI Global Finals at the University of Tennessee, May 21-24.

Six of the 22 CFISD teams participating in the statewide competition placed in the top six in their respective divisions.

Global-bound Middle School Division Winners:

• Hamilton Middle School:
• K.I.A.W. placed first and received the Renaissance Award in Obstacles, of Course! Team members are Michael Sliva, Eddie Brucculeri, Drew Allen, Daniel Schlomer, Hayden Passon and Nathalie Charlton. The school sponsor is Mary Young-Miller and the team manager is Cathy Sliva.
• Bleyl Middle School:
• WilDImagination placed third in Hit or Myth. Team members are Andrew Boushka, Alex Cook, Grant Cook, Cameron Frederick, Avery Mueller-Jarosh, Alex Mudd and Kirsten Thomas. The school sponsor is Renee Mai and the team manager is Molly Cook.

Other Middle School Winners:

• Spillane Middle School:
• FDI placed fifth and received the Renaissance Award in DI’ve Got a Secret. Team members are Logan Hamilton, Hudson La Plant, Kali Grau, Patrick Finnerty, Kyndal Irwin, Melissa Hall and Erica Swain. The school sponsor is Lea Dent and the team managers are Robert La Plant and Ian Hamilton.

Global-bound High School Division Winners:

• Jersey Village High School:
• The Velcro Masters placed first in DI eXtreme. Team members are Kurt Bilanoski, Matt Caughman, Taylor Channing, Jordan Fauser, Kim Griffin and Sarah Wisterman. The school sponsor is Christina Reif and the team manager is Curtis Haverty.

Other High School Winners:

• Jersey Village High School:
• The Velcro Masters placed fourth in D’Ive Got a Secret!
• Cy-Woods Number One placed fifth in Chorific! Team members are Kelsey Sallade, Bryan Gray, Phillip Wozny and Matt Wheeler. The school sponsor is Trina Powers and the team manager is Becky Sallade. Wheeler also won an individual Freestyle Award in DI eXtreme.

Elementary School Division Winners:

• Hamilton Elementary School
• The Lime Green Lunatics won fourth place in the Chorific! challenge. Team members are Reghan Conrey, Will Davis, Luke Hurley, Elizabeth Isaly, Kendall Thurston, Grayson Walker and Tate Walker. The school sponsor is Betty Collette, and the team managers are Amy Walker and Patty Davis.
