April 10, 2008 — The Cypress Woods High School girls golf team shot a two-day total of 699 to win the District 17-5A Girls Golf Championships, held last week at Jersey Meadows Golf Club. Cypress Falls High School finished second with a 735.

Both Cypress Woods and Cypress Falls will advance to the Region III Championships, to be held April 21-22 at Eagle Point Golf Club (12440 Eagle Pointe Dr.) in Mont Belvieu. Cypress Woods’ team members are Taylor Sloane, Jordan Sloane, Casey Gilbert, Emily Franco and Lauryn Vermaas. Cypress Woods’ team members are Avery Seale, Katie Hile, Jordan Hopper, Ashton Grieger and Sofia Klepper.

Individual medalists were first-place Audrey Koncaba of Jersey Village (158) and second-place Taylor Sprague of Cy-Fair (161). Both individuals will also advance to regional competition.

Other participating CFISD teams included third-place Cypress Woods “B” (786), fourth-place Jersey Village, fifth-place Langham Creek and sixth-place Cypress Springs.
