April 21, 2008 — Four CFISD softball teams finished District 17-5A competition and will advance to the Region III playoffs this week.

Cypress Woods High School was the district champion, Cypress Creek High School was the runner-up, Cy-Fair High School placed third and Cypress Springs High School placed fourth.

• Cypress Woods will play Mayde Creek in a best-of-three series. Game 1 is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 24 at Mayde Creek High School (19202 Groschke Road) in Katy; Game 2 is set for Friday, April 25 at Cypress Woods HS (16825 Spring Cypress Road); and Game 3, if necessary, is scheduled for Saturday, April 26 at Mayde Creek HS.
• Cypress Creek will face Katy Taylor in a best-of-three series, with all games to be played at Cypress Falls High School (9811 Huffmeister Road). Game 1 will be played at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday; Game 2 will be played at 6:30 p.m. on Friday; and Game 3, if necessary, will be played at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
• Cy-Fair will match up with Katy in a one-game playoff at 6 p.m. Thursday at Katy High School (6331 Highway Blvd.).
• Cypress Springs will meet Cinco Ranch in a one-game playoff at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Morton Ranch High School ( 21000 Franz Road ) in Katy.
