April 29, 2008 —The Cypress Woods High School softball team joined Cy-Fair in advancing to the area round of the playoffs, by defeating Mayde Creek over the weekend.

After losing the first game, 1-0, the Wildcats rebounded with 5-2 and 4-1 wins to take the best-of-three series.

Cypress Woods will face Bellaire in a best-of-three area round series at Stratford High School ( 14555 Fern Dr .). Game 1 is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Game 2 is slated for 5 p.m. Saturday. Game 3, if necessary, will be played 30 minutes after Game 2.

Cy-Fair will face Houston Memorial in a one-game playoff at Memorial High School ( 935 Echo Lane ) at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

While Cypress Springs was eliminated on Thursday, Cypress Creek wrapped up its season with 2-1 and 3-0 losses to Katy Taylor in a best-of-three series. The Cougars finish their year as bi-district finalists and District 17-5A runners-up.
