May 6, 2008 —Nine CFISD swimming and water polo student athletes were named to the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) 2007-2008 Academic All- America Team, announced April 30.
To qualify, students had to have a minimum GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale, be a graduating senior and have lettered in their high school program during their senior year. More than 285,000 swimmers are involved in high school athletic programs nationwide, and approximately 2 percent earn All-American honors.
The following CFISD athletes were chosen for the Academic All-America team:
- Ashley Hanigan , Langham Creek HS, swim/water polo; Erin Kampschmidt, Langham Creek HS, swim; Jennifer Lamb, Cy-Fair HS, swim; Madeleine Morris, Cy-Fair HS, swim/water polo; Veronica Partridge, Cy-Fair HS, water polo; Max Brown, Langham Creek HS, swim/water polo; Clayton Martin, Cypress Springs HS, swim/water polo; Naohiro Matsumura, Cy-Fair HS, swim; and Andrew Tharp, Cy-Fair HS, swim.
Additionally, the Langham Creek HS girls’ swim team won a NISCA/Kiefer Scholar Team Award for the third consecutive year. The team had a cumulative GPA of 3.908, tying it for seventh place nationally and first place in Texas .
Langham Creek’s 2007-2008 team members are Ashley Hanigan, Stephanie Rovig, Erin Kampschmidt, Meagan Charles, Jordan Craig, Rainey Perkins, Kristen Mulvihill, Brittany Miller, Lindsey Mann, Marie Claire Topper, Amy Syzdek, Morgan Sharp, Rachel Olson, Erin Dickson, Sydney Viard and Jenna Tiffin.
