May 12, 2008 — Three athletes and two coaches earned superlatives for the All-District 17-5A Softball Team, released today.
Cypress Creek High School sophomore second baseman/outfielder Brandi Virgil was named the Most Valuable Player; Cy-Fair High School freshman catcher Cassandra Barefield was named the Designated Hitter of the Year; Cypress Woods freshman second baseman/center fielder Kaitlyn Friedel was named the Newcomer of the Year; and Cypress Springs High School coach Michelle Herman and Cypress Woods coach Clif Bond were named Co-Coach of the Year.
