Cy Falls percussionists honored

June 11, 2008 — The Cypress Falls High School percussion ensemble has been selected as one of three high school winners in the 200 8 Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Percussion Ensemble International Competition.

More than 20 ensembles participated in the exclusive competition, in which Cypress Falls was declared a winner on Tuesday.

Cypress Falls’ percussion ensemble will now perform at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) 2008, to be held Nov. 5-8 at the Austin Convention Center. The lineup will include more than 150 events on 12 stages featuring many of the world’s best musicians on drumset, orchestral percussion, keyboard, world percussion, marching and more. Confirmed artists and presenters will be announced in July.

“ The Cypress Falls percussion students and staff are honored that we have been chosen to represent the highest level of our musical art at the 2008 PASIC,” said percussion specialist and assistant director Robbie Green. “I would like to thank the dedicated students of the percussion studio, the Cypress Falls band parents, who are always willing to give of themselves to support our musical endeavors, and (principal) Dr. Robert Worthy for providing us with an educational environment that fosters the highest levels of success.”
