June 26, 2008 — The Board of Trustees approved an Election Order calling for a Trustee Election on Tuesday, Nov. 4 for Trustee positions 1 and 2 during a special-called meeting on Thursday, June 26.

The Trustee Election will be a joint election with the Harris County General Election. School district elections have been held in May in previous years, but House Bill 1—passed during the 79th Legislative Session—requires school districts to hold joint elections on common election dates in May or November. The Board voted in December 2006 to move the school district election to November to provide easier accessibility for voters.

Positions 1 and 2 are currently held by Al Martinez and Albert Arechiga, respectively.
