November 13, 2008 — The Cypress Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market No. 3506 named Hamilton Middle School Life Skills teacher Terri Cole its Teacher of the Year recipient during a presentation at the school on Nov. 7.
Cole was nominated for the award by the parent of a former student and selected by a committee of store associates.
“Terri is a tremendous and tireless asset to the special needs children and their parents in her classroom,” said the parent, in an anonymous nomination.
Wal-Mart manager Miriam Crosby presented Cole with a $100 Wal-Mart gift certificate to purchase supplies for her classroom. The school received an additional $1,000 grant in her honor.
Cole joins the other local winners in a contest selecting Texas’ Teacher of the Year. The statewide winner will then join selections from 49 other states and Puerto Rico in the national contest.
