November 17, 2008 — Cypress Woods High School senior Melissa Mahoney placed 23rd out of 110 runners in the Class 5A Girls race of the UIL Cross Country State Championships, held Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

Mahoney finished the two-mile race in 11:38.81, at a pace of 5:49 per mile.

“She did very well,” said Greg Zarate, head girls cross country coach at Cypress Woods. “She has had an outstanding senior season and we will now regroup and get ready for the upcoming track season.”
