Students receive gold, silver key writing awards

January 28, 2009 — Twenty-one students were recognized in the regional Scholastic Writing Awards of 2009, a contest coordinated by the Harris County Department of Education (HCDE).
Individual writing entries were recognized with Gold and Silver Key awards. Gold Key awards advance as national qualifiers—a selection of which will be included in Scholastic’s national catalog and annual anthology.
These students will be recognized at a reception held at HCDE on Feb. 10 and the Gold Winners will advance to nationals in New York this spring.
