Cy Lakes HS event focuses on post-graduation opportunities
January 30, 2009 — Cypress Lakes High School will hold “Catch the Dream,” a community event for parents and students attending Cypress Lakes High School and Thornton and Watkins middle schools from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Cypress Lakes campus (5750 Greenhouse Road).
Many exciting activities are planned for children, students and parents, with an emphasis on preparing students for opportunities after graduation.
Food will be served from noon to 1 p.m. during a mini “Health Fair,” which will be followed by a keynote address from Linda Macias, assistant superintendent for elementary curriculum and instruction. Various learning sessions will run from 1 to 4:50 p.m. Topics will include financial aid (loans, grants and scholarships), military options, college choices and requirements, PSAT/SAT/ACT and many more. The day will conclude with a closing address by Dr. David Anthony, superintendent of schools.
