Soccer teams advance in playoffs

March 25, 2009 — Two boys teams and two girls teams advanced to the Region II area playoffs following bi-district victories on Tuesday.
In the boys playoffs, Cypress Woods defeated Cedar Park, 1-0 in a shootout. The Wildcats will face The Woodlands at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at Tomball High School (30403 Quinn Road).
Cypress Falls defeated Georgetown, 3-2, and will face Klein at 7 p.m. on Friday at Cypress Falls High School (9811 Huffmeister Road).
Langham Creek finished its season as the District 15-5A co-champion and bi-district finalist with a 1-0 loss to Round Rock McNeil, and Cypress Ridge finished its season as district co-champion and bi-district finalist with a 4-0 defeat to Round Rock Stony Point.
In the girls playoffs, Cypress Creek defeated Cedar Park Vista Ridge and will face The Woodlands College Park at 7 p.m. on Friday at College Park High School (3701 College Park Dr.) in The Woodlands.
Cypress Woods got by Round Rock, 2-1, and advances to play The Woodlands at 6 p.m. on Friday at Cypress Woods High School (16825 Spring Cypress Road).
Cy-Fair finished its season as the third-place team in 15-5A and bi-district finalist with a 3-1 loss to Round Rock McNeil, while Langham Creek ended up the fourth-place team in district and bi-district finalist with a 3-0 loss to Round Rock Westwood.
