Baseball playoffs kick off Wednesday

May 11, 2009 — The District 15-5A baseball season concluded on Friday, and the first- through fourth-place teams will begin Region II bi-district playoff competition this week.

Cy-Fair High School was the district champion, Cypress Woods High School was the runner-up, Cypress Creek High School placed third and Cypress Ridge High School finished fourth.

Cy-Fair will play Round Rock in a best-of-three series at A&M Consolidated High School (1801 Harvey Mitchell Pkwy.) in College Station. Game 1 is set for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Game 2 is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Game 3, if necessary, will be at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Cypress Woods will face Leander in a best-of-three series beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Leander High School (3301 S. Bagdad Road). The second game will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Cypress Woods High School (16825 Spring Cypress Road). The third game, if necessary, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Fireman’s Park (910 N. Park St.) in Brenham.

Cypress Creek will play Round Rock Stony Point in a best-of-three series beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Bryan High School (3450 Campus Dr.). The second game will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the field of the Game 1 loser. Game 3, if necessary, will be at 4 p.m. at the field of the Game 2 winner.

Cypress Ridge will play Georgetown in a best-of-three series beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Georgetown High School (2211 N. Austin Ave.). The second game will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Cypress Ridge High School (7900 N. Eldridge Pkwy.). The third game, if necessary, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Cypress Ridge.
