Cy-Fair advances in softball playoffs

May 13, 2009 — The Cy-Fair High School softball team won its Region II-5A Bi-district playoff game on Tuesday and will advance to the area playoff round this week.

The Bobcats defeated Round Rock Stony Point, 5-1, and will meet Klein Oak in a best-of-three series at Tomball High School (30330 Quinn Road). Game 1 is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday; Game 2 will be played at 6 p.m. on Friday; and Game 3, if necessary, will be played 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2.

Three additional CFISD softball playoff teams finished their 2009 seasons after falling in the bi-district round:

• Cypress Woods High School fell to Round Rock, 5-2. The Wildcats wrapped up their year as District 15-5A champions and bi-district finalists;

• Cypress Creek High School lost to Round Rock Westwood in a best-of-three series by scores of 3-2 and 4-3. The Cougars finished as runners-up in district play and bi-district finalists; and

• Cypress Falls High School narrowly lost to Cedar Park Vista Ridge, 1-0. The Eagles were the fourth-place team in 15-5A and bi-district finalists.
