Cy Springs sprinter advances to state meet

May 28, 2009 — Cypress Springs High School senior sprinter Kimberlyn Duncan will advance to the Class 5A State Track and Field Championships on June 6 in Austin, after winning the 200-meter dash event at the Region II meet in Waco on May 23.
Duncan won the race with a meet-record time of 23.46 seconds. A Louisiana State University commitment, she also advanced to state as a sophomore as a member of Cypress Springs’ 400- and 800-meter relay teams.
Three other CFISD athletes placed in the top three at the regional meet, narrowly missing a trip to the state championships:

Cypress Springs senior Imani Spivey placed third in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles with a time of 37.30;

Cypress Creek freshman Leslie Schilsky placed third in the girls’ 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.57; and
-
Cypress Ridge senior Peyton Vickers placed third in the boys’ triple jump.
