Rivals.com names Ogwumike top player for 2010

June 4, 2009 — Cy-Fair High School incoming senior basketball player Chiney Ogwumike has been labeled the No. 1 high school girls’ prospect for the Class of 2010 by Rivals.com.

As a junior, Ogwumike averaged 21.4 points and 12.6 rebounds per game, a year after being a part of Cy-Fair’s 2007-2008 state championship team.

In the article posted about her on Rivals.com, the 6-foot-3 Ogwumike said, “I know what I'm here for. I’m here to play the game. I’m here to have fun and get better, and I think as long as I’m doing that, I’m going to be No. 1 in my book. Numbers don’t matter to me, really, as long as I accomplish what I set out to do.”

Additionally, Rivals.com listed Cy-Fair incoming junior guard Cassie Peoples as a “Girls Hoops 10 to Watch” for the Class of 2011.
