QB Shepard wins ESPY award
July 22, 2009 — Cypress Ridge High School alumni quarterback Russell Shepard was named co-winner of the Under Armour All-American Moment award at the 2009 ESPY Awards, televised Sunday night on ESPN.
Shepard, who will play for LSU this year, was honored alongside incoming Florida wide receiver Andre Debose. The pair hooked up for a 92-yard touchdown pass during the 2009 Under Armour All-American Game on Jan. 4.
The 2009 ESPY Awards were taped on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. The 17th annual awards show honored the best in sports and celebrated the best sports stories of the year.
The award closes out an illustrious high school career for Shepard. In his senior season he was named District 15-5A Offensive MVP, Associated Press 5A MVP, Touchdown Club of Houston Offensive Player of the Year and Honda Player of the Year.
