Volleyball teams complete 2009 seasons

November 9, 2009 — A pair of CFISD volleyball teams wrapped up their 2009 seasons last week with second-round exits from the UIL playoffs.

Cypress Woods lost to The Woodlands in a four-game match by scores of 16-25, 23-25, 25-16 and 15-25 on Thursday. The Wildcats finished the season with a 35-7 overall record and an 18-0 district record. They were District 15-5A champions and Region II-5A area finalists.

“This was a great season and I feel very blessed to have such great athletes here at Cy Woods and girls who excel in academics and athletics,” said coach Ashley Ahlfinger.

Cy-Fair lost to Leander in another four-game battle on Friday, by scores of 16-25, 25-22, 17-25 and 20-25. The Bobcats complete the year with a 34-9 record, as district runners-up and regional area finalists.

“The team was a lot of fun to coach and were relentless in their battles, never giving up,” said coach Donna Benotti.
