Cy Ranch Key Club members receive volunteer awards

February 18, 2010—Fourteen members of the Cypress Ranch High School Key Club have earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award—presented to students and other citizens who perform 100 or more service hours in a calendar year.
The award comes with a certificate and letter from President Barack Obama, as well as a pin rewarding recipients for their hard work and dedication to helping others. The President’s Volunteer Service Award is categorized into three levels of service (Gold, Silver and Bronze) and is awarded based on the number of service hours performed and the age of the recipient.
Key Club members achieving the Gold level award were: Corrie Andrews, Justin Bradley, Alexandria Cathey, Molly Godinich, Brittany Holcombe, Ashley Martin, Clayton Marshall, David Verastegui, John Weiser and Megan White.
Kayla Kluetz earned the Silver award, and three members won the Bronze award: Ahalee Cathey, Megan Iselin and Niraj Shah.
“My Key Club students must do a minimum of 30 volunteers hours with our club each year. So many of them do much, much more with their church groups, scouts and other school clubs,” said Key Club adviser Jennifer Hydes. “That’s why I encourage them to register with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award website—so they can be recognized for their efforts to better our world.”
