March 2, 2010— A pair of CFISD swimmers put forth state championship-clinching performances at the UIL Class 5A Swimming & Diving Championships, held Feb. 26-27 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center in Austin.

Cypress Creek junior Jonathan Edwards won the state championship and set a new school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.95.

“Jonathan is a one-in-a-million swimmer,” said Cypress Creek coach Jeff Chandler. “I am just glad that I am associated with him. He swam a great race in which he won in the last 10 yards of the race—it shows the kind of heart and determination he has.”

Cypress Woods senior Cammile Adams won the state title in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:47.27.

"Camille is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of athlete," said Cypress Woods coach Dawn Jones. "She has been a pleasure to coach and will be a huge asset to Texas A&M. I know we will see a lot more from her in the future."
