CFISD names new principal for Sampson Elementary

March 26, 2010 — Heather Motzny, an assistant principal at Swenke Elementary School, was named the principal at Sampson Elementary School on Friday. Motzny replaces Cindy O’Brien, who will retire in June.
Motzny has served 20 years in education, 19 of which have been spent with Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. She began in CFISD as a teacher at Adam Elementary, teaching seven years before moving to Ault Elementary as an assistant principal. She served 11 years at Ault before accepting the assistant principal position at Swenke prior to the 2009-2010 school year.
Motzny graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, and received a Master of Education in Administration from Prairie View A&M University. Her certifications include Early Childhood Education, English as a Second Language, Gifted and Talented Education and Mid-Management.
“I am both thrilled and extremely honored to be selected as the next principal of Sampson Elementary,” Motzny said. “I am looking forward to joining the Sampson family as we continue the tradition of excellence that Cindy O’Brien has established. I am eagerly awaiting the start of the 2010-2011 school year, so that I can greet all of the bright, smiling faces of the Sampson students.”
