Cy-Fair baseball advances to area round

May 10, 2010 —The Cy-Fair High School baseball team defeated Cedar Park in a best-of-three series over the weekend to advance to the Region II-5A area playoffs this week.

The Bobcats lost Game 1, 10-8, before rebounding with two wins by scores of 10-0 and 9-8 to clinch the bi-district series win.

Cy-Fair will now face Spring in a best-of-three series, with games scheduled as follows:

• Game 1: Thursday, May 13, 7 p.m. at Cy-Fair (22602 Hempstead Hwy.);

• Game 2: Friday, May 14, 7 p.m. at Spring High School (19428 I-45); and

• Game 3 (if necessary): Saturday, May 15, 1 p.m. at Cy-Fair.

Three other CFISD teams finished their seasons in bi-district play:

• Cypress Falls finished with a 2-1 series loss to Leander. The Eagles were District 15-5A co-champions and bi-district finalists;

• Cypress Woods ended the year with a 2-1 series loss to Round Rock Stony Point. The Wildcats were the third place team in 15-5A and bi-district finalists; and

• Cypress Ridge finished the season with a 2-0 series loss to Georgetown. The Rams were the fourth-place team in 15-5A and bi-district finalists.
