Student leadership council provides feedback to superintendent

March 4, 2011 — Student leaders from CFISD middle and high schools joined Dr. David Anthony on Wednesday, March 2 in the Board Room of the Instructional Support Center for the first of four monthly Superintendent’s Student Leadership Advisory Council (SSLAC) meetings.
The council provides students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills as well as engage the superintendent on topical issues.
The students were selected by their principals based on demonstrated leadership at their schools, including the positive impact they have had on other students.
During the initial meeting, Dr. Anthony discussed important topics including campus safety and security, as well as courses designed to prepare them for college or future careers.
“I enjoyed the valuable experience of exchanging dialogue with some of our district’s promising leaders. The SSLAC also provides its members an excellent opportunity to work with students from all CFISD high schools on ideas focused on the common good.”
Future SSLAC meetings are scheduled for March 28, April 27 and May 23, 2011
