Cy-Fair honors volleyball coaching legend Mary Arnold

Oct. 19, 2011— Cy-Fair High School honored longtime teacher, coach and administrator Mary Arnold prior to the volleyball team’s home game against Cypress Ranch High School on Tuesday night.
Arnold Middle School’s 97-year-old namesake, Mary Arnold, was honored for her contributions to the volleyball programs at Rural High School No. 5, Cypress High School and Cypress-Fairbanks High School from 1939-1959.
During her time at the schools, Arnold accumulated more than 400 career volleyball coaching wins and more than 50 regular season invitational volleyball tournament championships. Cy-Fair won three state championships—in 1955, 1958 and 1959—and was a state finalist in 1957 under her guidance.
