CFISD a finalist for H-E-B Excellence in Education award

Feb. 13, 2012—Cypress-Fairbanks ISD has been named one of five large district finalists for the 2012 H-E-B Excellence in Education award, designed to honor outstanding public schools.
The district was selected as a finalist based on the following criteria:
- commitment to student achievement through innovative programs;
- parental involvement;
- community involvement; and
- professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators.
As a finalist, CFISD will receive a check for $5,000 and is now a contender for the $100,000 cash award. The winning school district will be announced in May during an awards celebration in San Antonio.
H-E-B launched the Excellence in Education awards program in 2002 as a positive way to support public education in Texas. A major goal of the Excellence in Education awards is to make a statement about the great things going on in Texas public schools—to spotlight best practices and to celebrate the work of Texas educators.
The Excellence in Education Awards are presented by H-E-B in cooperation with the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) and the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP).
