Feb. 14, 2012— Computer science teams from Cypress Woods High School placed in the top five at the UT Computer Science Contest, held Feb. 11 in Austin.

Competing against more than 59 teams from 30 different schools in Texas, Cypress Woods Team 1 placed first with 1302 total points, while Cypress Woods Team 2 placed fourth with 1034 points.

Team 1 consists of junior Nikoli Cartagena, senior Henry Chen and sophomore Andrew Liu. Team 2 consists of juniors Jason Krezinski and Ben Lin and sophomore Thomas Lam.

“Both of the Cy Woods computer science teams did an outstanding job at the UT Austin Computer Science contest and continue to have a great year overall,” said Stacey Armstrong, Cypress Woods computer science teacher and coach. “The competition at the UT CS contest is as tough as it gets— the best teams are always there. You have had a great day if you can get a single team in the top five at this contest, so we were quite thrilled to finish first and fourth.”
