Feb. 23, 2012—The National Center for Women and Informational Technology (NCWIT) named Cypress Woods High School student Emily Rodriguez as a recipient of the 2011-2012 NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing for the Houston affiliate.
The award honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Awardees are selected for their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history and plans for post-secondary education.
Rodriguez is one of only 19 students selected from the Houston affiliate area. She will receive the award during a ceremony at the University of Houston-Downtown on March 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Emily is an amazing computer science student. She is very inquisitive and hard-working—two qualities that will take her far in life. Without a doubt, she is a well-deserving recipient of the 2011-2012 NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing,” said Stacey Armstrong, Cypress Woods computer science teacher.
