CFISD celebrates Read Across America

March 5, 2012—CFISD administrators and Board members joined the National Education Association (NEA) in the annual Read Across America celebration on Friday, March 2 by reading children’s books to various elementary school classes.
The readers visited classrooms during the first week of March, corresponding with Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The following Board members and administrators read at district elementary schools:

Dr. Mark Henry, superintendent of schools – Danish, Kirk and Holmsley elementary schools; Bob Covey, Board president – Andre’ Elementary School; Lida Woodul, Board vice president – Willbern Elementary School; Don Ryan, Board secretary – Holmsley Elementary School; Tom Jackson, Board member – Fiest and Copeland elementary schools; Christine Hartley, Board member – Bane Elementary School; Pam Wells, associate superintendent for governmental, community and planning initiatives – Lamkin Elementary School; Harold Rowe, associate superintendent for technology and school services – Danish Elementary School; Roy Garcia, associate superintendent for curriculum and instruction and school administration – Yeager Elementary School; Linda Macias, assistant superintendent for elementary curriculum and instruction – Metcalf Elementary School; Karen Smith, assistant superintendent for business and financial services – Moore Elementary School; and Marney Collins-Sims, general counsel – Farney Elementary School.
Additionally, Ready, Set, Teach! students from Cypress Springs High School read to students at Andre' Elementary School on Feb. 29 and and March 2.
